Our pipeline reads the reporting linked above, distils it into a short spoken summary in our own words, then reads each sentence aloud in English and Mandarin. Two checks run before publishing: a sentence is rejected if it contains a figure that does not appear in the source material, and rejected again if it tracks a source sentence too closely. The audio is machine-generated.
This is an original summary written by Bilingual Mix for listening practice, not a reprint: the facts come from the reporting linked above and the wording is ours. Machine translation and machine speech were used. The source report remains the record of what happened and may be updated — BBC World.
